Confidentiality & NDA
Protecting creators' ideas is core to IdeaVault. This page explains the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that investors accept before viewing a creator's full submission.
For creators
Investors only see your one-line teaser until they accept the NDA. The moment you submit, we store a timestamped record of your idea. You can see exactly which investors unlocked your idea and when.
The investor NDA
By accepting, an investor agrees that the disclosed information is confidential; that they will use it solely to evaluate a potential investment; that they will not disclose it to third parties; and that they will not use it to compete with or copy the creator. Acceptance is logged with the investor's identity and a timestamp.
Honest limits
An online NDA and a timestamped record are meaningful, but they are not a patent and cannot by themselves stop determined misuse. For a novel invention, consider filing a provisional patent and consulting an attorney. IdeaVault is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
